Common blue (Polyommatus icarus), taken at Rew down, Ventnor, July 2010.
1/500th sec @ f/5.6, ISO 200, 105mm, manual focus, hand held. Such a miserable day today spent sometime looking back and sorting out images taken throughout the year, in only about four and a half months these beauties will be back on the wing. A little less breeze next spring would be pleasing, please view large.
Thank you to all who viewed, commented and voted on my previous upload.

A rather humbling capture and as you say its a bit grim today and only 18 weeks until we get the chance to capture these delightful butterflies again!!
Seriously though....An absolutely stunning capture.

Simply superb David. Just love the subtle tones, the detail and the wonderful textures. Posing to perfection against those soft bg colours.

Looking back can bring back happy memories of sunny meadows and butterflies. I did exactly the same today as it is dark, foggy and drizzling. still the days are now getting longer! Sylvia

Very pleasing indeed, David. Perfectly captured & well presented.
Can't wait for spring, too. Common by name but there were not many of these wonderful little b/fs at my local reserve last year - hoping for better numbers in Spring.
