The caterpillar of the Peppered moth (Biston betularia) taken on19 0ct 10.
My apologies for removing my previous upload it was far to dark, will re edit and submit later.

that is such a striking image - I will take your word for it on the identification. I have taught about Biston betularia for 34 years and wouldn't have a clue what the caterpillar looks like! Kettlewell made it famous as an example of adaptation that might lead to evolution - but I guess you know all that!!!
