Buachaille Etive Mor

Buachaille Etive MorThis works well in monochrome Phil. The trade off , to me, being the loss of the colour given by the Heather against what, to me, is a much better sky when rendered in monochrome.
Before printing , I would suggest that the water highlights are given a wee bit of attention , as that area seems to keep grabbing my attention , rather than allowing my eyes to wander through the scene. I'm assuming that the RAW file is showing no blown highlights but feel that a little " recovery" in that area of water will make all the difference.

Hope it does well for you in the club competition.

Crop & Church ...

Crop & Church ...Well, Ive read the critique and there has been some good, honest, and enlightening critique too. Which is incredibly refreshing.
the out of focus foreground doesnt bother me one jot, I love the lead in lines through the crop, its pin and I do mean Pin sharp where it needs to be. I can see and understand Evisceras comment re the lead in lines leading to the partly obliterated spire. Does it bother me? I would be dishonest if I were to say it didnt bother me one jot, however it doesnt bother me enough to spoil my enjoyment of the image. For the simple reason, that , once my eye has followed the lead in through the crop it immediately is drawn to the main fabric of the church building and that delightful cloud sitting just above it. A brave choice to render this in mono - but it works.
