You can just imagine the relief as the boots came off and the luxury of sitting in that chair.
The supply of boot polish had run out a long time back and the next shipment wouldn't be in until the spring sunshine broke the ice on the river.

There's history in this image Malcolm.

As Dougie said "history in this image" - I so agree! it's as if the gentleman is going to walk back in the room at any moment, I really like what you have done with this!

This really brings one back in time - the details in the room are interesting, and keep one's attention. I can just imagine the miner coming back to this room after a long and weary day, taking off those dirty boots, hanging the hat on the chair, lighting the lantern - sitting down to a meal.

I really like Nik's software and the new Silver Efex Pro2 is most excellent.

The boots hold this together. Plus they balance the slant of the chair. The whole image has a worn, dusty, settled feel.
Having been using Silver Efex Pro 2 for a good few weeks now I'd hate to be without it - someone recently mentioned having seen a good price on Amazon.

In a cavern, in a canyon,
Excavating for a mine
Dwelt a miner forty niner,
And his daughter Clementine

Couldn't be better illustrated. Makes me cough just loking at the dust.

A fabulous image - reminds me of 'End of the Line' by the Traveling Wilburys!
