For those expecting animal images from Chester Zoo, much to my dismay, we decided yesterday to abandon the idea Sad Some Camera Club members had stayed for the weekend in Chester, and met up outside the Zoo entrance with the rest of us who had made the effort to turn up. However, the weather was so atrocious and raining very heavy with no sign of let-up, and as most of the exhibits are outdoors (if they hadn't taken shelter from the rain!) we decided to call it off. Some members decided they'd go into Chester centre - which to me would have been equally as wet as inside the Zoo - but a couple of us, on my suggestion, went into Manchester and visited the Museum of Science & Industry, as at least we'd be indoors. They are several exhibit halls, and though you have to go outdoors to access the different halls, are at least close by to each other. Ironically, though it still was raining, it had eased off when we got there!
So, you're going to have to settle for images from the Museum, I'm afraid. This is a shot from outdoors (obviously!), and liked the contrast between the old and the new, with the Beetham Tower (or Hilton Tower), the 47 storey mixed-use skyscraper in Deansgate, in the background.
If the bad weather yesterday didn't sicken me off, I'm feeling even more cheesed off today as the sun has been shining brightly all day! Sad Some consolation, I suppose, is that we didn't have to fork out 16 entrance fee (13, I believe for us old 'uns) and it's free to go into the Museum of Science and Industry! Wink

The rain scuppers so many plans, doesn't it Sad. Still, you didn't have to break the bank, which was one bonus, and you came away with a fine image. Carol

It is bad enough getting soaked in the rain Trev,
but to pay 13/16 quid for the privelage is just not on !!
A good substitute here however.
Mick.

That looks like real Manchester weather!
The contrast of old and new here is quite amazing, with that tall angular structure.
Our proposed U3A Photography group outing last month was called off because of snow. We're hoping for better weather next week...

That's a place I haven't been to for a great many years.
A very well taken image, excellent composition, the figures help with the scale of course.
I wonder if you have considered b&w for this? Just a thought.

Bill

Somehow the cold, wet weather seems fitting for this scene and your processing suits this image perfectly. So glad you managed to find something else to do and to save 13 into the bargain Smile

Excellent Trev, a strong diagonal composition, with old and the new. Looks like a great alternative choice.

A cracking image, Trev, and look at all the positives to come from the day...this (and I suspect further) image, and the fact that you now have extra money in your pocket to spend sensibly on beer as you didn't have to fork out for the zoo.
