This is the village of Trellech between Monmouth and Chepstow. Once the largest settlement in Wales. Most of the old town is still underground but some excavation work has been done and funding is being sought for more extensive exploration.
Ive cropped it because the horses in the foreground were a series of blurred blobs. Hopefully it works anyhow.
Thanks for looking,
Dave

A very subtle BW conversion. Not too contrasty and in keeping with the softness of the mist rolling between the hills. A very pleasing layered effect too.

What's that bright object to the right of the tree bottom centre?

Thanks Chant. Dave - Having checked the original it looks as though it's a stack of those oh so beautiful bright greeeeeeeen round bales! I'll do a clean up job on the original as it's obviously distracting.
Thanks for commenting.

Just dodge and burn the bales a bit - no need to remove them.

Lovely shot though.

Thanks guys.
Westers - I've done a clone, heal, dodge, burn and headscratch job on it and it looks ok.
Dave - The colour version is a tad on the bland side and will probably need more time than I've got at the mo' to get sommat reasonable out of it. A job for an evening after a couple of ales, perhaps.

Very nice ! As stated previously its good that you didn't go mad with contrast on this. It conveys the misty feel just right.

Lovely misty image, should get plenty of clicks !

I love this one. However, the tree in the foreground has a very dark base, and I found my eye being constantly drawn to it. Is there a way to lighten the base of the tree slightly? I apologise if this was the intention and I've got it wrong! Smile
It's a beaut anyway

Tim - There is something distracting about that tree. I may try and get rid of the b*gger all togetherWink

Great image, absolutely love the way you have captured the mist between each successive line of trees.

David, this is a lovely image. It looks perfect to me as it is and conveys the message that I believe you wanted it to. Please don't sacrifice it to the gross over-photoshopping that seems to be trendy at the moment.
PS Thank you for adding the background information - very interesting!

Well, thank you very much for your kind words!

Jane - I'm in two minds about the colour version (niether of them completely stable).

I think the individual trees punctuating the layering have a big part to play.
In reality, all I had to do was turn up at the right time and press the shutter button. Mother did the hard work.
