Huge thanks to Diane (FeFe) for her jewel of an award on yesterday’s beetle Smile

And thanks so much to all of you who tried to help me ID the little fella. You really are a great bunch.

Back to the topic of jewels, Lynne mentioned yesterday the word ‘jewel’…and that rung a bell. And put me on the right path to ID the type of beetle it is. Googling ‘jewel beetle’ led me to jewel scarab…then to scarab…which is what it is. The family is Scarabaeidae and the structure is the same. You can even see that little triangle behind its head bit.

I had to dig a bit but found two other little scarabs I’d uploaded. HERE. And HERE.

Thanks, Lynne Wink And thanks again, all Smile

-----

Now then…I uploaded this shadow shot as a V2 on Silly Sunday. There were comments on how this deserved its own upload…so here it is Smile Just a Macarthur palm tree along the road in my housing estate.

Good morning, neighbour!
Just the kind of Saturday Shadow I could do with right now.
Though of course I would need the 20°C + beneath that shade as part of the deal!
Regards
Bill

Yes, this is a cracker. I love the way the lines occupy the frame. We look up as the tree looks down at us.

Excellent addition to Saturday shadows Andrew.

It's nearly a week since I last saw any sunshine although there's a rumour that it may make a quick visit tomorrow! Smile

I see that you've decided to palm this image of a tree off on us again Andrew!WinkGrin A suitably strong shadow saturday shot which deserves its own time in the spotlight, and I'm glad you've given it that

Good one, Andrew, I love the diagonals of the shadows.
It's 29C here in Nairobi today, a wee bit too hot for me, but suits your Palm Tree magnificently..!
A cool sea breeze and a cold something frivolous by the sea would be just great..!
