Quick responses to a couple of comments in yesterday’s upload:

Carol, I did wonder last year whether nest building was going on. I saw it rasping some dry heliconia stems. Never thought of squirrels building nests!

Jennnn, they definitely reproduce in our garden ‘cos I’ve seen a couple of babies in the last few years. Thanks for the idea of laying out some material for them! Must put out some ‘nest padding’ and see if it disappears Smile

-----

Alrighty, people, just a couple of butterflies from today. The one in V2 (Pale Grass Blue) is about a third the size of the one in V1 (Common Grass Yellow). Unfortunately I didn’t have my extension tube on, otherwise I could’ve got closer to the PGB. Never mind, both are just spur-of-the-moment grabs when heading out. I was taking my dad for a medical appointment. He was putting on his shoes. I was taking the cam to the car when I saw these two and decided to try my luck. They turned out sharp enough so here they are Smile I should make an effort to get some good butterfly shots. I mean, the butterflies are here every day, pretty much. It’s just a matter of getting them at the right time and having patience to get the shot. The latter of which is the problem Grin Whenever I DO get a butterfly shot it’s usually ‘cos I happened to be there and could be bothered at the time Smile

C,mon Andrew,get your finger out.
You can't expect a butterfly to sit on your lap and then take the shot.
A bit of stalking and hunting is surely required.
Prefer V2 for the one to come and sit on my lap !!
Mick.

Two fabulous images of these beautiful butterflies Andrew, v1 is particularly impressive. If you are thinking of shooting butterflies the best time to catch them is early in the morning before they have warmed up properly or in the early evening when they are less active and settling down to roost for the night. You can get very close to a number of species this way and they won't fly away!

thanks for the ID on nº 2, I have some trouble to keep Malaysia's blues apart. Now I know how one of mine is called Smile

well doen with both cos' nº1 is very common but very fast, nº 2 goes really well with the hairy jaggy edged leaves!
