It was slightly overcast this afternoon too, so the light wasn’t too harsh.

The light actually looks perfect for the white flower, Andrew, which as you know can be problematic in bright sunshine. You are getting very horticultural with your "inflorescence"

I agree with Pamela that the light is perfect for this photograph, if it had been brighter the white could have been burnt out. The clarity and dark background is excellent
