Once dynastic China’s glorious finance center, the distinguished Shanxi Merchant has regressed into today’s dusty Shanxi Miner. Shanxi province in the northern interior is the country’s coal capital, the power behind the People, providing 70% of China’s energy and literally fuelling China’s economy.

not sure why you are asking for critique...in my opinion it's an outstanding image as it is.

Awesome image!

Its a nice gritty, natural shot, - might work better without the yellow bg, - removed it in a mod, lightened shadows and sharpened a little.

Same question Nick asked in a previous critique, - is this a shot that you took yourself?

Thanks for all the positive comments, and thanks for the mod, Wilie.

The yellow wall just happened to be there, and I thought it contrasted nicely with the black, but I can see how the gray background gives it more of a surreal ambiance.

Of course I took this photo myself Smile I don't think ePhotozine would be allowing members to upload other people's images. It's from my new 640-page photobook about China, which ePhotozine kindly reviewed a couple months ago. Here's the link.

Thanks Tom. I found your writing about yourself in the third person a little confusing, which is why I asked. Also, since the book was reviewed by EPZ, I wondered why you were posting shots for critiques.

Regards

Willie
