This "meditative" monkey was at a prayer altar in Dambulla's Buddhist Temple. (Sri Lanka).
The Temple is a huge rock carved monastery built 22 centures ago. It has 160 huge Bhudha statues and some wonderful buddhist wall mural paintings still in pristine condition due to being inside the rock caves away from daylight.
Prior to the site being a buddhist temple the site was home to prehistoric people and there was evidence of burial sites with human skeletons dated more than 2700 years old.
I felt it was a very special place to visit...
