It's said that the red Bird of Paradise plant originates from Hawaii. But I have seen it in Tailand and in the Seychelles as well. It grows well in tropical humid weather.
But the portuguese Bird of Paradise (Strelizia Reginae or "Estrelicias") in Madeira - the flowers are mainly yellow but just as exquisite and exotic.
This is an unopened sample I got as a gift the the other day, so I took some shots in the garden as the sun came in the morning. Some are reversed just to show a different prespective. Hope you like it.
