Lindos is one of the national treasures of Greece; Hotels are not allowed to be built in Lindos, and cars are not allowed in Lindos too, so the narrow streets remain vehicle free, appart from a few bikes all "village Taxis" are the donkeys.
I feel sorry for the donkeys...
I must say do not like to see the big adult tourists that sit on those poor small donkeys to get up such a steep hill...
They should only carry children... I have never been on one.
Lindos is a beautiful maze of little alleys with shops, bars and restaurants mixed with medieval walls, simple architecture, with wonderful black and white "chochlaki" pebbled floors and painted ceilings.
One of the main attractions of a visit to Lindos is the world famous Lindos Acropolis, set very high up above the town. It looks down into the clear waters of the Agean Sea and the whitewashed charming houses.
