THIS ARE CONKERS, AND THEY LOOK LIKE CHESSNUTS BUT ARE UNFORTUNATELY NOT GOOD FOR THE TABLE! Tongue
MAY I SAY A BIG THANK YOU TO LEON (see his comment bellow), FOR HIS KEEN EYE SPOTTING THAT THE "NUTS" IN THIS IMAGES ARE NOT CHESSNUTS - THEY ARE IN FACT CONKERS (CHESSNUTS LOOKALIKE) BUT NOT GOOD TO EAT! IN FACT YOU'D BE "NUTS" TO TRY AND EAT THEM AS I'M TOLD THEY ARE POISONOUS! THANKS LEON! AFTER COMPARING THEM TO THE ONES I HAVE AT HOME... THERE IS A DIFFERENCE! Grin I THINK CAROL AND A FEW OTHERS SPOTTED IT AS WELL! Grin Grin

Following my theme on "Nuts", this two shots were taken last year in Alexandra Palace - North London
Thank you to everyone who has voted and remarked on the last two "Nutty" uploads Grin

Must say Isabel both captures are excellent, the DOF used on V1 is great providing a perfect defocused background, for the knowledgeable way they have been taken have my UA. The lens in use is excellent for the price, I use mine a lot.

Great to see conkers again, Isabel, V.2 gets my vote for the 'natural' look. Carol

Nice Autumnal images. May I add that the write up is referring to Sweet chestnuts and the images are of Horse chestnuts and not edible. Sylvia

May I point out these are horse chestnuts which are conkers!and are not edible, do not mistake them for the common chestnut which is edible, and has a pointed shape rather like an onion, conkers are poison and could make you very ill indeed if not kill. having got that out the way! yes two very good shots of conkers like both good light and detail, well done just change the narrative please! regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Both versions are excellent and you have captured that lovely rich colour and shine on the 'conkers', well captured and indeed found before children find themSmile

A colourful complimentary background to go with a fine image of the conker, Isabel.

I would like to add that in ww11 we used to collect conkers for the war effort! they were used to make high explosives, so all school children used to collect sacks of them, which would be collected by the local council, just another bit of information, regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

For a minute there I thought Leon was going to say to fire at the enemy - I know we were hard up at the time, but using conkers is just plain ridiculous, glad I read on Wink ... two lovely images Isabel, and I go with v2,
