The Theme: Colour
This trees were seen near St Pauls in London... Some of the shots will show the effect.
I am trying to make up my mid if I like it... What do you think? Strange, fun, or bizarre?
From June 25th trees in the heart of the capital have been painted blue to create an art installation for the City of London Festival.
But they're also part of a campaign to raise awareness about the decline of trees in inner-city London.
Charity Trees for Cities want people to stop and notice the trees, which are so often taken for granted.
The intention is that the installation will raise awareness of the significant decline of our city trees over the last decade, and the threats they face from climate change, pests and diseases such as Ash dieback.

I would call it bizarre.
I hope the blue paint doesn't hurt the trees!

Can't say that it appeals to me, Isabel Sad As you will remember, a lot of our trees here are painted white, but that is to stop the pests. Carol

Very strange but true here Isabel.
I can see the point in raising the awareness regarding trees.
But reckon there must be a better way than this !!

A very worthwhile cause with no damage to anything... see the web site here.

"A biologically-safe, water-based colourant that has been specifically developed for this project is used in this artwork. It has been in use since 2005 with no risk to trees, wildlife, humans or waterways."

I found something similar in the Lickey Hills a few years ago - thankfully the rain has washed all the colour away now.

Oh dear......... I am a bit of a tree fan, I dont like it at all..... ( not your pic's Isabel) what they have done. SadSad I appreciate trees everyday, they are beautiful and hate the sound of a chainsawSadSadTongue I dont think this is a good idea, its just likely to give other "unappreciating" individuals ideas.

I have the same pics from my trip to London in July, I hated the fact that they painted the trees blue, surely the paint stops the trees from breathing....the guy who thought it up should be painted red and left out to dry
Well captured thoughGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

not keen on the coloured trees but being that they are to raise awareness then good. and your shots bring it even further so more are made aware of the decline in trees. Without them we would die. So thank you for showing these shots!
