Wayne Manor by chrisheathcote

Wayne Manor

Thanks for that Mike, the settings are the Lightroom attributes (slider settings). I'd been trying to decide on that left hand tree too Smile The only filters I have bothered with previously are polarizers, but with all the comments about "you cant get back blown highlights, I thought I'd try ND Grads. I could try HDR, but I haven't the patience to set in front of a computer and play with the settings

What are you looking at? by chrisheathcote

What are you looking at?

Thanks for that Steve, I was surprised how well it came out. I've lost count of the number of these I have binned because of reflections etc.

The graining on the left I think must be from the glass, would a polariser have helped to remove it?

There was plenty of room, in fact I'm sure that's me near the tree. Grin Good shot considering how bad the light was. Everywhere was dull and grey.

Pembroke Castle HDR by chrisheathcote

Pembroke Castle HDR

Thanks Frank, because of the time of day I couldn't get a correctly exposed shot. I was shooting into the sun, so either the castle was black with the sky exposed or the sky was blown out with the castle exposed. This was the only shot that when I played with the exposure slider in LR had detail in the shadows and the highlights. Im not under any illusion with this as for me it is resigned to the bin, however I was looking to see what others thought re processing. the halo I think is down to the edge glow I added in HDR Pro

North Beach Tenby by chrisheathcote

North Beach Tenby

Thanks for that guys, as always some great tips. Apologies about the size, I thought I had checked the panorama button. I'll have a play myself and upload a version in panorama. Seeing your mods is quite inspiring as I when I looked at my version I thought I really like it with regards to composition, but shame about the colours. I know see that with a bit more knowledge about PP, I can get some great pics. Thanks as always for taking the time to help us mortals out. BTW I use LR 3.6 and CS3 (can't afford cs6, would rather spend it on glass)

Chris

Edit, don't know why Exp Comp was set to -1/3. I tend not to use it. If I have to adjust from the cameras Tv or Av reading, I use the image as the baseline and then switch to manual and do it that way. Don't know why, I just feel it gives me more control

Light fantastic by Wendyp

Light fantastic

Firstly very nice picture, what gets it for me are the striking autumn colours. The only negatives for me are the level (needs rotating clockwise slightly) and the twig that comes into the foreground from about 1/3rd in from the right and extends diagonally to just left of the middle of the frame. However I still think its a nice shot

Summer's Definitely Over

Great shot. Really like the colours. The only thing for me personally is the second hut is a bit too dark. But like I said this is just my opinion. Still love it
