"Please do not climb on this lion" it says on the plinth. The mermaid has blatantly ignored this sound advice, but I think it's rather beautiful. In the various parks and streets in Bournemouth, there are many of these lions, each sponsored by a local business and each painted by an artist – this is my favourite. A couple of others included as well in the variations. They will all be auctioned off for charity at the end of the summer season; a pretty good idea on all counts I reckon.

A very coloruful fun set, it is racehorses in Cheltenham and was pigs in Bath the other year
