Thanks for all the comments and votes on yesterday’s upload, people Smile

Now that the silliness is over, I’ve removed the pic. I don’t like shots of me but I just had to share with you that fancy mirrored lift GrinGrin

Now then…today’s upload is of a very fortuitous moment.

My intent was simply to photograph the flowers. I had focused on ‘em when, out of nowhere, the Chocolate Pansy came and plonked itself down! Could not…believe it.

My mind’s jaw then really dropped when the Pansy shuffled around and then spread itself wide open, catching the sun! I took two shots and this was the better one.

I’m quite pleased with this shot. The outside (underside) of the Pansy’s wings are very boring. Here, you not only get to see the inside but it’s nicely lit by the sun too. So lucky GrinGrin

'Chocolate' is a perfect description of this butterfly, Andrew, and wonderful clarity in the sun.

As we say in Yorkshire,

"You jammy bugger!"

I saw a much less interesting butterfly while we were walking the dogs tonight and I had the camera with me. I told it that all I wanted was it to settle with its wings open and stay still for just two minutes and blow me, it did just that. It is only a Meadow Brown but I got it, much to my surprise. So your luck with butterflies has sped across the planet attached to your e-mails. Thank you so much for that Andrew.

The flower is a beauty, Andrew, but the flower with the butterfly on it is just wonderful, how lucky you were. I've had a bee or flying insect do this to me, but never a butterfly. I was sitting outside Winchester Cathedral yesterday watching a red admiral fly around and then it suddenly went out of sight. Someone behind me said it was resting on my back. What a pleasure.
I talk to them, too, like Lynne, and have even had one settle on my hand, but they rarely do as they are bid.

That is quite a moment. Sometimes it is the little surprises in life that are the dearest.
I'm glad you caught it before it moved on to another flower.
Gorgeous.
