Thought I'd try something different. It looked good in the backlit, wintry sun with remnants of the frost in the shadows still.
Iso 200, 1/60s, f9, handheld (couldn't get the tripod in!!)
Wow Dave, this is an amazing capture, love the lighting and composition...excellent!!!

Very, very beautiful. A tropical rain forest in miniature.
Works for me Dave - Wonderful.
ps, they resemble the machines in War of the Worlds.
Excellent macro, love the backlighting.
As the saying goes: A change is as good as a . . .
Demanding macro Dave, you managed it !!
Amazing work done with a handheld camera, Dave. A cracker of a macro with back light, colour, sharpness and all.
WOW.....THIS IMAGE IS AMAZING ,Dave - it's so beautiful...........
Well how could I resist something with that title?
I love it of course - a beautiful natural nature image
and besides when all the world was against my daffodil blur you liked it
Seriously this is so well observed - love it.
Kate (no moss)
Lovely backlit on the stems and nice coloured tones in the glass
but I am still looking for some kind of impact. WesternRed.
Amazing capture, outstanding light and superb Dof, Dave!
Nicely done. You have a steady hand.
I see I'm not alone in thinking this superb! Amazing details, great backlighting and colours, not forgetting, loved that title!
excellent Dave very fine detail and light
Now that is a title that matches the thin line plant!
wonderful back lighting and great shot
congrats on all the awards
Wonderful lighting and selective focus Dave, the range of complimentary tones awesome, well worth the awards.
Excellent capture, Dave. Superb use of light and dof.
Reminds me of eels popping out of sand in a nature program or the original war of the worlds "aliens". Great macro work. A pleasure to view.
Superb! Lovely rich colours and wonderfully sharp!
Now that's macro, Dave!
An unusual one for you, Dave, and a great title! I don't know why I'm seeing "War of The Worlds"-type creatures in this, but there you are. Great stuff.
Beautiful light in this.
Colours, compo, dof, freshness... Excellent
Wonderful Dave. Great use of the available light.
A nice departure Dave and worthy of those awards very well captured indeed.
This is a spectacular macro!
A "moss Icon" for sure! Well seen with wonderful light ...
An exellent catpture. You seem to get it quite sharp even if it was hand held at this f and iso which is amazing.
Brilliant Dave - very at-'moss'-pheric!
Looks like little gangly aliens to me too!
Very beautiful and very worthy of the awards......Sandy
Wonderful capture, Dave, super backlighting
I worry about you Dave but your creativity has come up trumps! Excellent macro work. Did I know you had this lens?
Excellent capture, Dave.
I love to get to peep into these tiny worlds, nice one.
A beautiful image.

I like the way you thought this shot thro and planned it. The backlighting really works because of the delicate nature of the subject and good bokeh adds a non distracting bg. Paul
Superb - nothing to add!!
That's one fine looking image, Dave. Beautiful, vibrant tones and enhancing light.
What happened to "Two"....... I demand a recount......there are at least 22 here, come to think of it what happened to the tripod or will that be three?
Congratulations on all the awards Dave, well deserved, lovely shot
Superb Focus, color, tones, Details, & Compo ~ Peter
I love the Irish Kate wrote. A gentle humor for appreciating natural beauty.
I love the diagonals and a great light also
A superb close up image Dave, everything spot on, well done.
Great work on the focusing and has a warm feel to it. Well done, this is a cracker!
Dave, lovely image.
Lovely macro with beautiful light and DOF Dave.
Really? Beautifully done. I bought a Joby Gorillapod, it can hold up a DSLR with zoom lens.. but I don't like to use tripod anyway....
BTW, thank you for the comment,Dave.
Exquisite!!! Love this!
Very nicely done Dave. Love the translucent quality of the fronds.
Beautiful image well captured.
I sure do love these shots and you captured it very well indeed.
an amazing delicate capture beautifully lit
The light makes this a beauty Dave - congratulations on its many awards
A beautiful image
WONderful capture and angle, Dave. Not easy, this, and it's turned out really well
Now that's what I call a close up. Beautiful light backlighting it too.
But I think we have bigger moss in Scotland - we could probably get a tripod in . Moira
A miniscule world within ours - I love macro shots and this is one of the best, Dave, excellent light. clarity and colour ... Carol
superb Macro, well done
Good DoF and nicely sharp for hand held. The backlighting works really well through the moss flower heads and especially on the translucent bulb at the tip. It also models the ground nicely. I like the way the heads are all aligned and almost identical. It resembles an alien word and is a useful reminder not just to look at the big views; beauty and photographic potential can be found anywhere (almost)
A fantastic piece of macrowork Dave, you've focused on something that many of us would have passed by without giving it a second thought. That lens is mightily impressive, I can't wait to get my hands on gary_d's spare one.
Wow, look at all those votes and awards.
Very well done Dave.
Lovely image, I'd forgot that moss puts up these lovely little seed heads.
