The Metaphid, the Green Bug and Me

Metaphidippus 1/8--1/4 inch aka Jumping Spider

This tiny spider was busy, sitting on a daisy petal chomping away at some sort of green bug. If you look closely, you will see that he used 2 of his 8 eyes to keep track of ME.

Note, also, at this close distance the dof is VERY short, shallow, narrow.......Daisy petal was a perfect background----

Great macro shot with the focus spot on just where required: and I'm guessing that's your reflection I'm seeing in the two larger eyes, Jenn, since you include ME in the title?

Surprised to hear about eight eyes Jenn.
I had a boss in the railway like that.
He always saw EVERYTHING I did !!
Super shot.

Your knowledge is amazing and most interesting.
Yes I can see you in the eyes - how wonderful is that.
And the other eyes doing other tasks!

My husband and I could do with eight eyes each to watch our grandchildren.
They set out for school this morning, fed and fresh but Harrison (4) saw some freshly spilled paint in an underpass
and got himself covered in black paint. One of his sisters went to assist and got herself covered in paint !
After a scrub with white spirit, my hubby took them to school again!
Then he got into a scrap with a boy at playtime and came home covered in blood!
oh yes we could use eight eyes.
At least I've learned something with your nature lesson Jenn!

As much as I hate spiders, this is a pretty amazing shot. !!

As Walter said...'' The spider looks almost jeweled. ''

I think he could be popular as a brooch. Table manners aside, you sure do make him look his best. TG

I'd have let you borrow my MP-E lens for this one Jenn.......Imagine the results you could have gotten, never mind it's still a fine image all the same.

Looks like a little Leopard in the thumbnail and can't help but feel might well share the same attitude when it comes to its prey! Great shot and the reflections of you in those eyes are quite amazing.

Is that you we can see in the big eyes, Jennn? This is an amazing image, especially as you were using NikonTongue He! He!
Would make an interesting brooch in precious metals and stones (without the snack, though)
