A bit of reportage today for a change. The pics are not as sharp as I would have liked but it all happened so quickly. Thought you might be interested to see them.
Lots of Great Spotted Woodpeckers in our neck of the woods this year. They have had a very successful breeding season. The fledglings are as big as the adults and now they squable constantly. The birds in these pictures are both male, the upper, in what appears the dominant position is the juvenile. The third picture is the juvenile male in a more passive pose.
