I've never done this before - so here goes.
When I uploaded the original version of this shot, it rapidly became (and still is) my most popular image on EPZ. See here for original
However, MrS finally succumbed last week and agreed to put some of my images on our wall - and when I looked at this with fresh eyes, I wondered if my processing skills had improved at all.
Here is the re-worked image - better or worse? Honest opinions please - really interested to see how this one compares.
Thanks for your time and your honesty
BTW - It's Happisburgh and the sea defences early on morning
the light and colour behind the splashing wave is stunning.
100% agree with Ant, looks great.
This version works best for me , bit more detail in wood
Prefer this one I think - a bit brighter and slightly less blue in the sea (let's face it, we are looking at the murky North Sea here... ) Oh, and glad to see you've sorted the dust bunny at the bottom of the frame
Definitely this one for me, Fran, much prefer the light, fantastic. Wonder if it'll top the 211 record? Carol
Three years on and it's a yes, may be it will get that badge this time.
Good to see the boss letting have space on the wall too.
Ahhh now I see what you mean!
Love it! John
wow love it. christine
Brilliant photograrphy....Why not put the first image as a version.........Regards .... John
This one! after many flicks to and thro
Much better now - the light and warmth jumps off the screen now
Gosh - Thanks all - much appreciate your input - have to say, I much prefer this one
LOL, Kathy - although "eagle-eyes" Sutton has managed to find one on this one too
Yes this is even better, particularly the light and tones of the exploding wave and with the cyan cast removed from the surf. It's a real stunner.
Thanks Gents - - glad you like it
Deffo this one Fran, the light gives it even more impact than your original
Prefer this one Great shot!!!
Yes, much better.
Yers !!!.....a lot more 'life' in the crashing waves.....though I think I prefer the richer detail in the foam of the bottom LH 1/3rd in the original.....still a rasper though !!!!!!
Fine job and better too... a piece of history as they aint there no more
Appreciate your input, Folks - - Thanks
Sweet. Sweet Capture.
This new one is much better all round Fran - the tones and colour are better. Funny, I've been doing the same with some of my old ones - processing skills do improve but so does the software.
Yep, much better I was thinking of doing this will my older stuff too, or revisiting every location again lol
Definitely prefer this version Fran. The contrast between the wave and the defences works better and overall the image looks brighter and cleaner. The only downside is that some of the lightest foreground surf has blown out (perhaps its my rubbish work monitor)
Think this one is better overall Fran. I would agree, though that this version has lost some of the detail in the bottom R/H side foam area, so may be a combination of the two would be the ideal.
Definitely better - very well worked.
By the looks of the awards, this has gone down very well.
It is certainly much more "alive" than the previous, and the light makes it very, very beautiful.
This version has terrific punch and impact, Fran - a distinct improvement on what was in any case a fine image.
Agree with all the above comments. This version really has the wow factor and packs a punch.
Yup much prefer this version Fran
The water in the foreground works in both versions, but the waves are much brighter and better in this one, so I definitely prefer this one!
WOW!!! Look what happens when you go to work!!!
Loads of Thank-Yous - so here goes - - -
Ta, MrB & Val for the HC and GEA, Thanks also to Zoran, Wolfy & Tim for your UAs - - completely blown away by them all!
Thanks also to everyone for their votes and comments - - appreciated, as always
Yup this one is better definately
Thats a super flow of light and energy Fran !
Yep , take down one of the bosses erratics and hang this right in its place
What a difference three years has made.
The light is so much more vibrant.
Thanks you three - glad you like it
Yep, this is the one!
HUGE thanks to BREN too for your UA - great way to end the week
Fantastically dramatic shot!
Tidal power Fran !!
Its so much cleaner looking and with that has a lot more impact.
Quote: The light and colour behind the splashing wave is stunning.
Yep and I thought the original was awesome....
This has so much impact I just hope you weren't too wet afterwards!
Now I'm going to have a look for the other one
