This is a Comma butterfly that was once a bit of a rarity in my neck of the woods but whilst I was photographing this in a nearby nature reserve I also saw some dozen or so feeding on an ivy shrub that was in flower - this in a year when there has been an alarming drop in the number of butterfly sightings in the UK. So.. a little bit of cheer in what has been a depressing year for butterflies
