Continuing the theme of images from The Gambia this is another Vervet Monkey captured contre jour. I am not sure about the highlights in the background (sun through the trees) in that do they take the eye or not. What do you think?
I appreciate any comments as I aim to improve my photography and processing techniques.

I don't know what you should do but I would have darkened the bright spots by half anyway. I love the profile light that shows his whiskers. Maybe gave the face a little highlights. And maybe cropped a little tighter. But I'm as dumb as a stick when it comes to know what you're supposed to do. I do what appeals to me.

And so say all of us 1 i would get rid of the spots but I love the profile
Beautiful high-lighted whiskers. I'm no expert but I would clone the easier lower spot and try to eliminate the top one - much harder with those whiskers. I would also saturate and contrast the monkey more to make it stand out above the bright spots. These are among my favourite monkeys, my profile photo is of me with a baby vervet.
It is a lovely shot regardless.

I agree that the bright patches in the background could use toning down a bit — they do pull the eye away from the monkey somewhat.
That aside, it's excellent. The backlit highlights are fantastic and I love the texture of his fur. The composition is excellent and gives him space to gaze thoughtfully into.
