Taken this morning on a trip up to Harwood Dale near Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Following a fresh snowfall through last night I managed an early start to catch the sun rising.

The low sunlight picking out the detail in the snow.

As you can see from my PF I have an eclectic mix of images and feel quite guilty that I do not have nuch from my local area. Inspired by the lovely Leighrebecca I have made it one goal this year to build up a collection of local land and seascapes.

Love to hear what you think and C&C most welcome.

Many thanks for taking the time to view and if you can - go large.

Paul

This is a lovely shot, Paul, and there is no doubt that a bit of blue sky and a touch of sunshine enhances any snow scene. I like your composition, and as you say, the low sidelighting has brought out the textures in the snow. Nice work.
Regards, Ronnie.

(PS. There is nothing wrong with having an eclectic mix to your p/f. Mine is the same. I'll have a shot at anything that takes my fancy, although I am happier if the subject is not moving too fast, or is stationary. R.)

A wondefully pristine snowscape, that I find so much more commendable for being handheld - I am envious of your steady hand. The balance of composition is outstanding and the light is the final element to make this a winner.

I thought this was a palm tree on a tropical beach in the thumbnail! Grin

This is nicely done, though the horizon is perhaps a bit central. You've not uploaded for a while — how's the local landscapes project going?
