It sometimes helps to have the main subject not right in the middle but slightly off centre. Maybe you could try this with your next few photos and see for yourself te difference it makes.

An image which brings back so many memories. However back to suggested modifications, this contains only a few niggling points, on has already been mentioned. The other being your point of view, try taking the image from a lower vantage point, or even a range of different angles and perspectives. Then place then all out on your screen, and has family members which one they prefer the best.
