Thank you for all your support while I was away in the bush, nice to be home.
A big thank you to Barry (Bravdo) for his UA, much appreciated.
The epz birders would have loved visiting Thornybush private game reserve as the bird life is great this time of the year. Photographing them is another thing altogether as the vehicle is noisy and as you approach them they fly away. I also never have the correct lens on at the time
The European roller(Coracias garrulus) have brightly coloured plumage and a hooked bill. The rollers are medium sized \old World birds and are the only member of the roller family to bread in Europe. It is a bird of warm, dry, open country with scattered trees, preferring lowland open countryside and plains with scattered thorny or leafy trees. It nests in tree holes. The European roller is a long distant migrant, wintering in southern Africa. This species has apparently undergone moderately rapid declines across its global range and it is consequently considered Near Threatened.
Have a nice day......
My hubby Rob is going in to hospital today for a total hip replacement, we are both scared, but know he will be able to walk so much better in a few weeks time....will catch up with you all later today...
