Good morning
Thank you for the great response to my rhino image yesterday....
Today I have a male elephant for you...uncropped image, the elephant was very close to the vehicle, using 70mm of my 70-300mm, any closer I would not have fitted him in the frame. You can see his trunk is pointing to us, just smelling us warily.
All my wildlife images are handheld.
Have a nice day
Colleen

P.S I have uploaded a second version for Richard and Peter showing the elephant face on showing both tusks.

Clever the way your fast exposure has suspended the dust in the air, Colleen.
Looks ready to give more than a display!

In so many ways, I think that elephants may be among the most remarkable animals on earth. Great photo, Colleen. I have been thinking about you with the snow we are getting right now. How have you managed to live your life and never see or experience snow?

Looks as if he's been in the wars with only one tusk.
Timed it just right with the dust being kicked up and swirling around, adds more interest to the image.

I must look through the other pics KF him, I think he had one tusk that faced downwards, maybe a birth defect, will go look and if I have a clear oic will upload as V2

Have to say I struggle with elephants. They can be very aggressive, and I've been on the receiving end of a charge or two. Secondly they are very difficult to photograph well, and I've never done as well as you have here! As you say - they can be too big to fit in the frame! Well done indeed.

Two cracking shots of this magnificent animal Colleen, v1 is as good an elephant image as i've seen on here. Taken with a 70mm eh, time for Simon Fletcher to man up and take a shot or two of a large dangerous beast with the Canon 50mm f1.8! Wink You've really thrown down the gauntlet to him here, I wonder if he'll rise to the challenge or retreat to his villa to down Madafu and sulk!WinkGrinTongue
