The name Marrakesh originates from the Amazigh (Berber) words mur (n) akush which means "Land of God". It is the third largest city in Morocco after Casablanca and Rabat. It lies near the foothills of the snow capped Atlas mountains. It is a few hours from the foot of the Sahara Desert.
The City is divided into two distinct parts...The Medina, the historical city and the new European modern district called Gueliz or Villa Nouvelle.
We toured the modern part of the city yesterday and visited beautiful gardens and interesting buildings. I thought I would start off with street scenes today..
V1 is a pedestrian shopping mall
In V2..This guy was drinking water and must have noticed my camera...just caught him glaring at me, fortunately we were in a taxi...
V3 one of my favourites...some ladies in a crowded bus ...The other versions are all street scenes from the modern part of the city.
Have a nice day....
