Good morning all...
Thank you for the great response to yesterdays sunrise....glad the ladies liked the Ranger's behind
A huge thank you to Kathryn (kathrynlouise) for her UA for my lioness/cub upload from Wednesday
Something different today....a behind the scenes look at how the Tracker and Ranger look for animals. Everyday when you leave on a game drive, you have two options....drive endlessly in the hope you find something on the dirt tracks or you track them. Our tracker is one of the best trackers around, he sits on the front of the vehicle continually looking for signs of animal prints in the sand. Once he has picked up fresh tracks, We then can spend as much as two hours tracking the leopard/lion/cheetah until we find them. Mostly we have to go off track through thick bush trying to look for them and then we dont always get the opportunity for good photographs as the animals stay hidden or walk off into thicker bush. Sometimes the lion are sleeping and and dont get up. We do not harass the animals at all. The ranger does not drive into their space but they are know to come into ours if they feel relaxed with us.
Todays image is one of the Ranger and tracker looking at the tracks trying to figure out if the animals turned left or right into the bush. I loved the soft morning light... I will upload versions of our Ranger Garteth in the bush with his rifle looking for the lions, the tracker Loderick walking alone in the bush ...fearless... and then some images of us off track looking for the lions and lastly we found the lions but bad photo opportunity after 2 hours
