Hi

We woke EARLY the alarm not required and after the necessary caffeine intake we got dressed , layer after layer and headed to the car, loaded the stock and drove down to the market.

A quick introduction and we were shown our pitch, we unloaded and had set up in double quick time. The skies dark and heavy we feared rain or perhaps worse. Throughout the day though the odd spot of rain but nothing else. The cold however seeped into the bones slowly but surely.

The images were received well, though I doubt any of the folks going through would criticise... however after the past four weeks where the market had been cancelled due to the terrible weather we all have been having the area was very very quiet. Even the local hotel that has many winter tours failed to spill the guests from the warmth.

We did not sell anything... Are we disappointed .... No, the fact is we were out there and showing off the images in a market place and the folks that did turn up were chatty and complimentary. Always nice to hear although folks reaching for the wallet or purse and the crisp shuffle of notes would have been as nice ! The other traders made us very welcome and were extremely helpful. We look forward to going back again next week, and hopefully for many weeks to come, we believe that over time and being consistent in attending we will get trade.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Nicky and Kim for coming down to the market to show support. Nicky of course a lot of epz'ers know, she has helped us in many ways and it was grand to see her come along. Kim is a member of epz but yet to upload, she is also a work colleague. Appreciated greatly that she took the time and effort to come out on a freezing cold day to say hello and comment on the stuff, also gave us a few good ideas to take forward too. Thanks to the pair of you from us both.

All too soon the time was over and despite the cold and lack of customer the time did fly past. We loaded and came home and after thawing out have managed to sit and evaluate. A great day our first trading day and a day we will remember for a long long time. We definitely have the bug and will actively seek to perhaps go to another market on a regular basis. Twice a week would be all we could manage due to other work commitment but if any of you are wondering should we do the same thing then jump in and test the waters asap .....the water is fine !

Till next time

Colin

Shame you didn't sell anything, but as you say that may change when you've been there a few times. It's hopefully down to the fact you were new and unexpected. It's a bit cheeky but maybe you could ask browsers why they are not buying, then at least you can exclude, quality, presentation, choice, price as reasons or adjust if they are the reasons. Maybe a "Not buying today" leaflet that gives a selection of tick boxes with reasons and an email address. I'm not sure if that would work it's off the top of my head.

Appreciate the thoughts on it and yes a good idea, we learnt a few things from our first foray. The weather and the lack of market for the previous four weeks I think made a massive difference, as I said four other regular traders sold zilch also... Our presentation was ok but needs improving, but the old chestnut is affordability. Basically spent over 1,000 to get this ready but with a few weeks of trading we hope to make enough to then make more and start that ball rolling. One of the major plus factors was and has been the support of fellow epz'ers I was overwhelmed with the support via comments yesterday, You have a grand load of members !! Thanks for the comment that too is appreciated Colin
