There can be advantages to your wife insisting that Balloch is NOT the right direction to take for Glencoe, but Glasgow. I know better than to argue nowadays, so I just do what she says, only to find a little later that the truth does become clear all by itself. No problem, because there were some beautiful horses in a field right next to the A809. They were quite playful and even feisty, which I thought would make some great photos, but of course they were curious as well, so play all but stopped when we got out of the car to photograph them. This one especially was very interested in us, and stopped very suddenly to "pose".

Comments and mods welcome!

Thanks for looking...

Like this one a lot, I only wish there is slightly more space on the left.

Yeah, know what you mean - I was expecting the horse to keep moving forward, but instead it stopped, so the expected space on the left never came to be. Oh well, I'm still happy with it. Nice and sharp against a good background without distractions. Works for me. Thanks for your comment, Cole.

I'd be tempted to crop a little off the right so that the horse's head is not so centred.

Nice work, though.

I agree with the comments about the space on the left and the framing, but they are only slight distractions from what is otherwise a very impressive image.

kFreck87, that's quite an unexpected mod you came up with! Certainly has impact! I'd be inclined to tone down the yellow on the right, though. But an interesting approach of the subject. Thanks!

Yeah right, drive from Rowardennan to Glencoe via Glasgow... Ahem! But, as I said, it was nice to see those horses. Very nice find.

Quote: Great picture, how come you did not crop it tight ?

I liked the unusual composition enough to leave it like this, Ray. And I was glad to see Pete agreed with me. Smile
I did post a subsequent shot with a more conventional composition/crop, but that didn't do so well. And so we see that somehow unusual things seem to appeal to people!

Thanks for the comments, Ray, Jonathan and Paul!

Hi Conrad,

So glad you stopped by my image this evening so I could "discover" your wonderful gallery. This one is something I sincerely aspire to. Bags of emotion rendered in two dimensions and I enjoy the main post the best. Natural and moving.

Cheers!

Lovely detail in the horse's mane and coat and I like the way you've captured him (her?) in such an alert and proud pose. A great result from some poor navigation and a wrong turn!
Regards,
Anna
