Differently composed view of the same windpumps as in my previous upload. Again, taken with my pocket digicam.
Paul Croke asked about the name "Kinderdijk". It means "Children's Dyke" in English. There are four different stories that could explain the name, ranging from the simple explanation that the main dyke was built by a child labour force, to a Moses-like story about a baby in a reed basket who survived a flood and was found near the dyke. Not sure which one I believe...

Thanks for looking.

Excellent comp/love the windmills in line.Great .
Tom.
An excellent composition with a beautiful sky and lovely deep blue in the water.
Phil.
The strong blue sky compliments the dark blue of the water, and as has been said the line of the windmills is pleasing to the eye. I think I prefer without the duck, as it breaks the image slightly![]()
Do you live far from here, Conrad? We were staying with friends in Gorinchem and were travelling back from the Waterbus into Rotterdam when Ed stopped for me to get some shots. The only difficulty I had was there are so many electricity pylons and cables which spoil the view. It would take a lot of cloning to sort it out

Thanks for the comment

I live about an hour's drive from Kinderdijk, Colin. I like going there, but don't often get the chance to go in that direction.
I know exactly how you feel about those cables and pylons - they're a nuisance, because they're literally everywhere in this country. It's just too small, you know, we don't have enough space to provide views of unspoilt landscapes. It's one of my great frustrations.
Which is why I like going to the UK and the US so much... ![]()
I'll check what this looks like without the duck - you just might be right about that.
Thanks for your comment!

Er... no, this is Kinderdijk, which is almost thirty kilometres east of Rotterdam, so more to the south than the location you have in mind. Understandable mistake, though, because there are many look-alikes in the Netherlands - just not five identical ones in such a neat row as here, and certainly not as part of a large group of nineteen. But thanks for your comment!
