I'm trying to determine when an image is only suitable for use in my blogs, and when it's Gallery material. Sometimes it may be a fine line between the two.

Take this shot, for instance. Taking it and processing it was done with my iPhone. The only things I did on the pc, was to reduce the noise a bit and re-size it for upload.

Is it good enough? Hmmm. It's not perfect in image quality. But I think it's quite nice.

I haven't answered the question for myself yet when something is only suitable for my blogs and when it can go in here.

Anyway, thanks for looking!

Hi Conrad,

A good image, well done.

The only thing im my eyes that's wrong with this, is the branches on the tree to the right, they have covered to much of the Windmill and maybe this shot would have worked better if you had or could have taken from a slightly different postion.

See mod.

With regards to the gallery, I believe that once your image has received 30 votes it automatically goes into gallery. I don't know if you leave comments and votes for other images but (and I'm not saying it's right) it is one way to get more attention to your uploads as there are that many images posted on this site and your upload soon get's pushed off the first page.

Nice Pf.

Martin

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the mods, it's always good to see some variations of what I've done myself.

You're right about the composition, of course, I should have stepped to the left. I was watching my dog at the time, so slightly distracted - normally I pay careful attention to this sort of thing.

I think you misunderstood my comments about the Gallery. I know how it works, I've been a member for almost eight years. No, I meant that I also publish photo blogs on this site, and some pictures I only use in the blog posts, and others I post in the Gallery. I just sometimes have difficulty deciding if something is good enough for the Gallery, that's what I meant.

Anyway, thanks for the comments and the mods!

Conrad
