Fences and Daylilies

At our local Historical Society I learned that a grant of 1500 acres was given to a Captain McCune for "services during the Revolutionary War." This tract was divided, and divided several times.

This is a view from the Wyndum Hill Farm as it is now called, across the valley. The oof farm belongs to Amos---the hills in the far background are know as the SOUTH MOUNTAINS. Beyond them-- some orchards and then Gettysburg.

Daylilies are blooming everywhere these days! Shown as seen from the corner of the barn.

A HUGE thank you to Slow Song and Walter for their most appreciated User Awards!

Very clever use of DOF -- keeping the barn out of focus just enough so as not to detract but clear enough to place the day lilies in context.

Excellent the DOF and the inclination of the wire. Otherwise it would've been just another picture and this is not!

I agree with Walter's comments completely, Jenn: but I am wondering why you set the ISO at 1000 when it gave you a shutter speed of 1/1600 sec.........perhaps I am missing somethingSadSadSad.

I too wondered about the ISO/shutter speed combination Jennn. Notwithstanding that its still an interesting image of some beautiful country.GrinGrin

My sort of take, keep the focus on the here and now...
Great write-up. Every acre of land has its own history.

Seeing an image where others can't - that what makes some photographers stand out form the rest.

I always wonder with images like this, if the flowers are on the inside, trying to get out, or on the outside looking in.

Perfect dof, Jenn, just enough detail in the distant buildings.

I like how you've composed and shot this, Jennnn. You've given these lilies a very good sense of context.

Very interesting info in your write-up too.
