Good Afternoon to you all.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my image.

This is a bit of a change from the normal for me. This is Mac, he is my son's Father in Law. I took the shot of him at the weekend while we were at our Grandson's 2nd birthday party. I changed it to mono then enhanced it a bit. Let me know what you think.

Thanks again.

Mary Grin

A genuine portrait, the lighting providing a beautiful softness to the lived in exterior.

It is a lovely sharp image that needs something more. He could do with a bit of light on the right side of his face to bring some detail out there. Also take his arm out with a crop as you cant see what he has in his hand. Could be a good picture. Get him back to that window.

The original image does have all of Mac's face showing as its colour but I was aiming for a softer image in mono.

Excellent candid portrait. Love the light on the right, wished there was just a little less dark shadow on the left side of the image (or right side of his face).

All of the above comments reflect my own thoughts, if by chance he posed, light reflectors [purposely purchased or improvised] may have solved the problem of the lack of detail on the near side of his face. The colour version may still have illustrated more shadow even though it would have revealed more detail, but it may also have lost some of the wonderful character this image has................. This guy has a great face for portraiture.

Wonderful contrast, I like V1 but I know that many people would prefer V2, Mary.

I may be just an awkward s*d, but I'd go for a combination of V1 & V2! I mainly go for V1, but would like a see the right eye and cheek a bit brighter as in V2! Wink A very lovely portrait though, Mary Smile
