A weeks holiday in North Devon gave me the opportunity to visit a location I have wanted to shoot for some time. This grove of stunted oak trees has a boulder strewn floor and is covered in a verdant moss. Its a magical place with a unique atmosphere.
When we arrived here after a half hours walk the woods were shrouded in mist and it had just stopped raining. As it turned out, perfect conditions to photograph this location.

We have some woods like thin in Scotland, and they are very difficult to manage properly. Your signature depth of field here Derek, very good technique.

Exquisite image! The colours are sumptuous, there's a lot of FG interest and a clever arrangement to lead your eye into the very sharp depth of the woods from FG boulder, to nearest tree, to bright mid-ground and on to the backlit fringe. Reminds me of Fangorn... ![]()
This image deserves to generate a lot of interst and accolades.
