Morning all. This is Camusdarach beach near Arisaig. Beautifully clear water just inviting folks in for a swim. Sometimes we do not pay attention to unseen dangers in such circumstances. The beautiful weather made many of us flock to beaches etc. Darren decided to go diving off one of the local harbour walls last month. Unfortunately the water was too shallow and he broke his neck. He is currently in a spinal unit in Glasgow. It is doubtful he will walk again. He is 24. I have just noticed that this shot is not straight, but no time to fix it. I won't catch up today as am off to visit my friend and her son Darren.

I am voting for the straightened image, which will be absolutely delightful and of postcard quality.

So sad about Darren. Most of us survive being young and foolish without serious consequence, but sadly he has not. I wish you well in supporting your friend through this.

It's not straight - so what? For once I had not noticed. It is still a very pleasing image.

Best wishes to Darren. Such an easy mistake to make, with such drastic consequences. There but for fortune go you and I.

So sorry to hear about Darren: what a way to end up after a trip to the seaside.
The clear water and blue/green colours are so much a part of the west coast further north, highlighted by the sunny conditions.
Very tempting to swim there but dangers do exist to catch the unwary.
Beautiful bay and I just wish I were there right now under these conditions......today it will be looking rather different, I fear.
All the best to Darren and his family.
Ronnie.

A sad tale indeed Moira, and sadly again it seems to happen every year in the UK, people jump into water and come out different people.
Darren and his family will be devastated, lets hope it's a reminder to others to take care.

The seas on the west coast are beautiful and the sand reflects the light back with spectacular results for photographers.

This looks like the Mediterranean Moira - but as your tale shows looks can be so deceptive.

Take care,

Lou
