took this recently for a monthly challenge at the camera club. The challenge was taking a macro shot NOT USING a macro lens.....This was my attempt as i didnt have any extension tubes..Tried the reverse lens didnt have a lot of luck.. so hence the magnyfying glass...Many thanks for all previous votes and comments . David

Works surprisingly well! The image as a whole looks quite rough and unpolished but I think that's very appropriate given the low-tech approach. It's also very well composed: the handle of the magnifying glass leads the eye to the wasp. (Alternatively, you could say that it's a correspondingly low-tech approach to composition: `I wanted you to look at the wasp so I drew a big circle around it and pointed.' Wink )

Bit of an odd challenge, though. Given that the sole purpose of extension tubes is to use an ordinary lens as a macro lens, allowing them seems rather against the spirit of the competition. Kind of like challenging people to cross a river without using a boat but then letting them use the bridge...
