Wanted to try and portray the action, hustle and bustle of the flock here with this image and at the same time from a different POV,the sheer noise and movement was breaktaking. To obtain this shot I'd watched the day before and saw how they moved along the shoreline as the sea covered the land and there was a spot where the land stuck out and was one of the last spots to be coverd by the on coming tide. I got there in the dark on the second day having seen where I would position myself the day before,I lay with the shoreline to my front and as the sea came in the birds started to work their way towards me as I was flat with the shingle and this image I hope portrays that event, with birds coming into land, the different shapes and sizes it was amazing to watch. My focus was on this Knot,as he seemed to be on watch. Thanks For Looking

Stunning image - wonderful tones and movement with that terrific detail of the one singled-out bird.

A superb image portraying the hustle and bustle created by the flock.
I think the single, sharply defined bird standing head and shoulders above the rest of the flock is a masterstroke.

Good work with this unusual shot, Craig. I appalud your use of field craft (coast craft?) to get this shot.
I've witnessed many times the feeding frenzy of hundreds of Knots as they retreat ahead of the incoming tide along the shoreline at Old Hunstanton, Norfolk - yes, it is an amazing sight.

Great shot, very busy but as you say quite rightly, it portrays the mania with these birds
