Another shot of the crested tit, this time showing the rain and more importantly the red eye.

Could be another squirrel tomorrow, not decided Smile

You have certainly captured the character of this bird Cheryl. Wish we had a few of these in our neck of the woods.

Agree Paul, a bird with such character would love to be able to photograph them again and more often, but it'll have to wait until next winter at least.

I was going to call the shot punk, but decided against it Smile

Thanks again to everyone.

This certainly a bird that I want to photograph again, but due to the rather limited location within the UK, that's got to wait a bit. If you think certain garden birds can be quick and forever moving, you have not seen anything until you try and capture one of these on camera.

They also only seem to visit when lots of other birds are around, which can make getting a clean shot difficult.

There is no doubting your technical skills in getting such an in focus and excellently composed image.

I know it is wildlife and there is nothing you can do about the rain, but the streaks looked like scratches on a transparency / negative to me.

Had an attempt at spot healing them out - see modified upload.

Thanks everyone.

Keith I'm flattered.

Jeff, the style of rain was strange and at this point a few large drops were falling, but it wasn't consistent. Hence why the three drops in this pic happen to be over the bird. The slow shutter speed required (1/30th) even at ISO 400/500 means that even at f/4 the rain is recording as a long streak rather than shorter ones, which would probably looks less intrusive.
