Another image from earlier in the year.

Not everyones taste with the OOF foreground I know, but pretty regal looking on that stone.

Thanks for all the recent comments, hope to get some more time on-line soon to catch up.

Great feel of space to this image. I think that the background colours add a lot to the subject. Sylv.

I think this is fabulous.
The pose and slight off centre comp are spot on. The colours and blur in the fore and background are gorgeous and serve to emphasise the sharpness and detail of the owl to a great degree.
Excellent work

Superb detail and colour Cheryl although the out of focus grass between the rock and the more in focus grass in front of it doesn't seem right to me (hope that makes sense)

Yep Geoff. I remember at the time I was having a migraine, so couldn't get down low enough to blur all the graa without feeling sick.

This is kind of a compromise!

Thanks Pete. I guess I should retire now Smile

Superb pin sharp detail on the bird, and beautiful colours on his feathers.

I can see what Geoff means about the focus though. It does look a bit weird, almost like the rock and owl are levitating!

Thanks guys.

Kev, not sure totally about the mod on this or the barn owl. Whilst the colour adjustments look good, really not into the gaussian blur of the background. With a couple of exceptions where noise has been softened the background is as taken using a large aperture. I don't have the time or patience to select the bird as a mask and apply a blur to the image. Plus 9/10 times you can tell. Thanks for taking time to have a play though.
