Had a great day with the kingfishers again today.

Although the shot of the day is not of a kingfisher, or even two kingfishers.

It is of a heron! The reason the shot is special is because of what the heron has in its beak. I'll open it up to guesses and then load the shot on Friday.

No not a baby kingfisher. I am convinced that no one will guess unless they talk with the only other person that knows.

Perch was carefully chosen by Mark Hancox in this instance as the birds had been squabbling earlier in the day so chose a longer perch in the hope that they may face off, but never imagined that they would do this. Well I didn't anyway.

Hey that guess by Richard snuck in as I was typing my reply.

Nope not a fish or anything that lives in water, not even a shopping trolley! Wink

Thanks all. Have a few more from the sequence which may be better but I was a bit busy when I got home so just processed the first shot of the two of them that I came across.

There was a programme on tv about a cameraman and his passion for filming kingfishers last night, a piece of footage showed 2 kingfishers fighting just like this and fighting to the death which suprised me by drowning in the water, altho in the clip I saw a minx Crept up and killed the "victor".
