Found a whole directory of unprocessed images from the meet at the Mid-Wales Falconry Centre just prior to Xmas.
Thought this one is rather special - which translated means I like it a lot.

Brilliant. No wonder you like it a lot
yes, that is a bit special.
Fantastic shot, lighting/contrasts are sublime...
What a cool looking fella.
Excellent indeed, Cheryl
Excellent shot Cheryl super lighting.
I like it a lot too Cheryl.
Gorgeous light & composition.
nop notch shot! i really like the light on this picture.
It certainly is special!
Great shot - the lighting & comp are superbly captured...
Glad to see that others like this one as well. That lighting is something a bit special.
I decided to use the village as the background on a number of shots rather than the field or trees. Think it gives an environment feel to the image.
Just fabulous, Cheryl, but I've had a go at cloning out the wire.
There's mods available Jim you can do it for yourself
I like the barbed wire - might have a look at it without later.
A real classic, I would love to catch an owl like this.
Yup I like it lots too. Comp dof and light are superb.
Pretty good Mod Jim, what about the grasses next? Does give a softer feel. Maybe when I get some time I'll work on the full-size image and post as a comparison.
Thanks Simon, Kris and Paul.
So do I (like it!) Like the mod' too, but think I prefur this one. Is that 'Magic'? He's doing it again isn't he... posing just right! Good catch!
Thanks, Cheryl, though I think the grasses are essential. Won't be able to follow this up as I'm off to the sun in an hour
(Hope they don't ask to weigh my camera backpack which I'm taking as hand luggage - it's got ALL my gear in it, barring my tripod which is in the case! Weighs a ton!)
This is just lovely, Cheryl - no wonder you consider it special ...
Have a good time in the Sun, you jammy g**. Some of us are off to Blackpool to work ;-(
Angela, yep good old Magic. His agent has now raised fees
Thanks Lynne and Susie.
Just great light and the composition lines are superb.
Simply beautiful. Lighting, composition, colour, contrast and DoF are executed very well. Nicely done.
Lydia / Australia
Hope this click gave you your RC - super shot with some lovely detail.
It did thank you Maggie
Funny thing is I'd swap yesterdays EC for this one any day. Hopefully he'll be published soon - think Magic deserves a bit of publicity.
Thanks again to all, even those naughty anonymous clickers - never catch me doing that.
Nice piece of barbed wire you captured there...
very nice indeed beautiful light on the plumage
I think we all agree with you Cheryl.
(I didn't know we could swap ECs?
Stunning!!, good light and dof, nice little catchlight in th eye.
Stunning! Excellent composition and light!
Beautiful capture. Love the lighting and composition.
great capture, love the warm tones and lighting.
Wow...you continue to impress. This is classic. I like Jim's mod but prefer the barbed wire as it does, to me, suggest it's wild, rather than from a centre.
Oh dear Pete's gonna be in trouble now or should that be ;-(
I notice Frank is back, I was wondering where you'd been Mr Reid, no posts since December the 4th and not turning up at the MWFC. Hope all is OK.
Thanks all, and especially Pete. Think I'd better retire for the rest of the year.
EDIT: You were too quick adding a comment for me there Pete.
Ooooooh. This is special. Superb!
What a beautiful photo!
It's the border that got you the EC
You're on a 2006 roll now - nice one
OK Paul, half the EC is yours cos I nicked your border design!
This one is well worth the EC Beautiful image
What's that bright light down in the corner?
Oh I know what it is?
It's the sun shining outta your ass again! .....LOL
Very deserving, now where's mine Pete fer crying out loud, she's difficult to face on a meet as it is!

If you get Cheryl to stand on an orange box you can face her Ade
stunning capture, i like the space you have left to the left of the owl!
Thansk Kev, I thought you were going to suggest I could stand on an orange box and take the shot from Ade's height for him
Thanks Helen and Maddie.
I'm retiring until the end of the week. I did have a few more really good images from the Xmas period to post, but I think I should give everyone a rest. So off to do some work instead.
another stunning shot, but you never produce anything less than stunning, congratulations on EC
Superb shot, love the colour and tone.
WIT WOO. great shot! cheers Mike.
Fantastic, colour, crop, composition. Technically spot on, and the Owls nice too.
Congrats on EC and RC, pity they don't do all three on one shot (HC).
Top, top work Cheryl.
Even for someone like me, who isn't a natural history fan, this is class.
Thanks again everyone.
Hoping that Magic will soon be coming to a magazine near you as he is part of a first submission of 2006.
Fabulous shot. If I have one tiny critique its don't tell me, you just came across a bunch of shots this good unprocessed. Aaah I wish. Wonderful shot. Happy new year.
Wow now this is a great EC Cheryl, well done again.
Sorry Andrew, got a whole data card full, well almost, not all are as good as this one. Even the thumbnail on Nikon View screamed out to be opened large.
It was funny cos I knew I'd taken some with the village as background, but I hadn't seen them since getting home. Turned out I'd accidentally saved them to my D70 folder ;O
Congratulations, well deserved for such good camera work,a beautiful bird.Everything else has been said really..the barbed wire looks good to me.
Abeautiful shot and great composition with the owl looking into the shot
A really superb shot. Absolutely stunning!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR Cheryl

People like you make me sick
You can't get better than this.
P.S. Congrats on a well deserved EC award.
Consistantly brilliant Cheryl.
That hint of the countryside in background works well, another beauty
I can see why you consider this one "rather special"
It really is a top-class shot in my opinion and I'm not really into captive wildlife shots. As Pete said, the barbed wire does suggest a wild setting as does the fields and the backdrop and this really makes the shot work. On top of that, the framing is so precise with the owl looking into the frame and the fence perfectly horizontal.
...nearly forgot to mention the gorgeous light!!!
Congrats, well deserved
lol retiring for a while, you could teach me a thing or to! Just had a look through your whole portfolio, impressive
Thanks everyone, again.
Off to work now - notice the blooming time!
Almost a perfect description of how the shot was conceived Rob. Should also say this is full-frame. I even managed to get the barbed-wire straight in camera for once
Maddie only for a short-time, like until the end of the week.
Superb light and composition. Well done.
Slowly begining to catch up after the new year indulgance )))) it was great.
Looking forward to seeing your work for 2006 and commenting etc more often !!!
Have a good 2006 and a safe and happy time.
A stunner this to look at, pleasure all round.
Meant to come back to this last night as I first looked at it at work but wanted to see it on a calibrated screen. Boy is it even better.
Stunning shot. Congrats on EC really worth it. Great work
I've never made a picture 100. My great pleasure, Cheryl. Magnificent shot.
Superb..and a happy new year too..your images continue to amaze..
Gonna post a portrait as my next upload. It's of an ePZ'er, but it is actually a nice image - let's hope they think so too. That'll got a few people from the BWC meet nervous

any new on "the lens"
Its an unfortunately cliched shot, but this doesn't harm the picture in any way - a well executed and truly stunning shot!
fantastic capture, Cheryl - the background is amazing too Congratulations on the EC - well-deserved
Lovely shot. Great capture. A real contender for photo of the week. Click!
You really have to see this one large to appericate it - superb!
Thanks all the later commentors.
