Another of the SEO in the grass. Can't decide if the bird looks better looking this way or as in the previous posting. Which I'll add as a variant.

much prefer V1 Cheryl.
There are two background "lines" on V2 which are above and to the right hand side of the head. They tend to draw the eye away from the face.

V1 Cheryl. V2 seems to have a slight bluish colour cast to it on my monitor.
Regards,
Paul.

Great shots with excellent use of selective focussing - of the two my preference is with V 1.
Ronnie.

Same bird - two different colours. V1 has the more natural look.
Never did like that blue version.Wink

Yeah, you kind of have to ignore the colour cast in version two. Both shot in shade. I did not realise but NX2 although it says as shot in the WB actually wasn't as shot. I shot on cloudy, but V2 definitely is not the same tone as processing in NX2 and specifically setting WB to cloudy. Not sure why that is, or should be, but I know to look out for it now.

See what you're saying Adrian, had not noticed that the lighter patch behind the head in v2 looks like 2 lines. Will take a look at that when I reprocess for the website.

Thanks all.

Wow, this is even better, so many of the best shots this week are birds of prey, freaky.

Great striking eyes again Cheryl, but would love to see one perched showing the talons and all the bird rather than it hiding in grass. Sorry but it looks so unnatural there

Thanks all. Thanks Angi.

There's a problem with showing the feet on this and it's not the jesses. The bird will not sit on a perch when it is out in the open, check out the image at the top of Tim's Portfolio.

Put either (there are two SEOs at the MWFC) in it's enclosure and they will both sit quite happily on a perch, but not in the open. Hopefully that will change over time. So not possible to get a shot of it other than down in the grass, and even then they tend to just lie down.
