Was trying out a new theory today, but did not work quite as anticipated, however, another step forward as it was easy to work out what was wrong.
So another period of set building before those drops come to fruition, so here is one from the current setup.
This one is superb!!
Awsome capture of the drop.
I can imagine your set up to get these captures.
That's a great capture, I have some plans to do the same!!
Awsome! Perfection in it's simplicity...
Superb shot love the colours.
Thanks Wolfy for the GEA.
A few more to upload over the next week or so. I do want to change the lighting a bit, but I also have another couple of ideas to experiment with, so will have to see how the results turn out.
Setup is very simple. An oven dish, the dark grey/black kind. Filled to the brim. Light from behind provided by two flashguns (light from behin gives most defined reflection). Two different coloured gels give the graduated background. Each flashgun set at 1/32 output to freeze the action.
Nicely done Cheryl,I see you are still striving for perfection...hat's off to you.
Thanks for the explanation too,I'm sure it will help some folk on here trying to get even close to this.....all I get is wet wet wet
Nice splash..One of the best Ive seen....JT
Great shot! Thanks for the info on set up too. It reminds me of a watery toadstool.
Great shot. I must give this a go one day!
Your patience and perseverance has paid off very well, it is a great shot.
Great image Cheryl....even if its not what you anticipated . I'm sure you will get what you are after though
brilliant!!! x xx
Now ya getting good at these fair play.
I think these images are a key indication of what I was trying to say about there are always improvements to be made. I have lots of ideas but so far most are based on what I have seen elsewhere. Finding that inspiration on ePZ would be better.
This is my main ongoing project which I revisit when the weather is poor as it is at the moment, making any nature photography almost impossible even with the D3s.

I think I might revisit the original challenge concept.
It was really easy. This pic goes up as a "best" example of a "capped" water drop. We then challenge people to do better. They each post but this stays on top as best...and then someone comes along with one that's better and it knocks yours off. You then have new material to aspire to and an incentive to shoot a better version. In principle it's perfect. All the top pictures appear in "The Gallery of Excellence" and only one of each. All the rest are hidden behind the best. We end up with a gallery of the very best of everything from specific shots of specific subjects to general shots.
