As much as I love the owl, the surrounding details lifts this for me. Love the detail in the lichen and the barbed wire too ... congrats on yet another EC Wink

Stunning as ever. Congrats on yet another EC. Have you a mailing list for your workshops? If so please put my name on it and let me know when they come up. All within a couple of hours of me.

Phil.

It's a beautiful owl, perfectly composed, I love the complimentary colours and natural setting ....but to be honest, to me this appears to lack the sharpness and detail of some of your other shots, especially your 'little owl' shots.
Still excellent though Smile
Rob

Looking again now, it's sharp where it counts - the eyes and beak but the feathers are not, maybe it's shallow DOF and what you intended, congrats on the EC by the way.

Phil I'll PM you!

Robert (bobsy) I was experimenting or rather learning to trust the lens to work at f/4. Trying not to stop it down and lose shutter speed or introduce too much background, which was very busy with autumn colours and branches.

f/4 probably not enough for the perfect shot as the owl is quite chunky and therefore in relative terms of this lens and distance from the owl, the face is far enough in front of the gate to put them on different planes. So face sharp, gate not so.

Possibly did not sharpen this exactly as discussed previously. Was originally processed in October, just never got around to uploading it.

Thanks everyone.
Cheryl

I was looking at this and thinking that I could not decide if the barbed wire is a good thing here. Then I saw the EC. LOL - So much for my foray into wildlife photographic judging! Regardless, it's a winner.
