An early upload from me today, this is poppy the barn owl.
Another shoot from my weekend holiday
Beautiful shot Cheryl, you've caught the owl's markings really well and I like the natural framing, fits perfectly with its' habitat. I just hope it doesn't hurt itself on those nails. :0)
Great use of the wood as frame, and sharp as a pin. Lovely shot, Cheryl.
Caught so well and it is already mounted itself in a frame for you
Fantastic detail in this and excellently framed by the wood. Superb work.
Superb shot.Worthy of an EC imo.
stunning capture, i take it your on first name terms now?
Great shot, its nice when nature cooperates
Beautiful colouring - great framing
Very nice. Like the composition and dof. John
Wow! Thats excellent. K.
It's a book cover!
The frame is excellent, lovely shot.
Excellent pic and love the wood being used as a frame - very effective.
I agree, love the use of the frame. Click.
Congratulations , its brilliant
i'm blown away! fantastic in every aspect, well done!
WOW - thanks everyone, and especially Pete for the EC.
Can I do my acceptance speech now?
I have to thank a couple of people Pete Cairns, for organising the weekend through Wildshots and Mark Hamblin for 'building' the window. Don't think DIY is Marks strongpoint, though, he should stick to wildlife photography.
Actually as people often ask about photo holidays, can thoroughly recommend these guys, a good laugh and a great location.
Ta for the comment Cheryl, I love poppies just was a very blurry shot that I fiddled with, cheating I suppose, predominately a portrait person, i actually struggle to take pics without people in them...well done again
Has to be the best owl shot to date - apart from Malcolm's Mentalist.
In fact, I'd go to say, this is one of the best wildlife shot's I've seen. Here or elsewhere. can't fault this in anyway. I really hope you get this framed.
WOW WOW WOW WOW........you get the idea! Probably the best static Owl shot I've seen. Ever. I'd love to see this printed to a 20x16 and framed.
Fantastic Cheryl and congrats on the EC.
(needless to say I clicked!)
Outstanding - love everything about this. Terrific work! Congratulations on the well-deserved EC too ... here's another *click* for your collection ...
A well deserved EC
A real smasher, congratulations
This is a stunner...Well deserved...You now have a lot to live up to ....
No superlatives to add cheryl - it's just so good.
Thanks again everyone, hadn't thought of framing this one, as I have one I think is even better (best save that one for a while).
Will look at getting it printed, then. Will definitely be going on my website, which is due for an update, anyway.
I think this was probably taken at the same place as David Georges owl . Though it is not the same owl. Saw a number of previous pictures taken on the stump from Davids pic, though it has now rotted off. Hence, now stumps, gates and 'windows'.
Terrific shot Cheryl, congratulations on another EC.
Envy is a terrible thing! - superb
Well deserved EC for a stunning shot.
lovely composition, excellent shot
Must have spoke too soon Cheryl! Congrats on another EC winner.
Stunning Cheryl. Great framing, focus & DOF.
Congrats on the EC.
Great shot Cheryl, perfectly 'Framed!'
Excellent shot,fabulous framing.Congrats on the EC.*click*
Excellent well done lyne.
Another cracking owl image. Well done!
That'll teach me to keep quiet Neal.
I finally made a photo with 40 clicks - still being outscored by Mr Hensons dodgy commercial image though. The shame of it all.
Looks like that trip was well worth it Cheryl :o)
Excellent image! Congratulations.
Beautiful shot, fabulous natural framing.
Great shot, the bird is lovely. At my first envious look I wished you'd included a little bit more of the great window frame on the left to balance with the right side. But now I think you got it right, too symmetrical and it might not look quite as good or interesting as it does, but not by much! It's a great frame for the bird and a great shot Thanks ~ Clare
FANTASTIC! GET IT PRINTED BIG!
I'll be back to look at this again later!
Certainly looks like the trip was worthwhile Cheryl, a fine image indeed.
All been said - congrats!
Top shot, congrats.
Brilliant and congrats for EC.
excellent shot, love the wooden framing, well done.
Well done for getting EC .Like the colour of the owl.And the look it has.
A superb pic, Cheryl, with wonderful colour and detail. I love how the bird's framed in the window. Congrats on the EC.
That's a beauty Cheryl - from colour to great detail it all works - well done and congrats
Clare I agonised over having equal amounts of frame on both sides. I thought it looked too staged if I did that (I mean I know it is staged, but even so).
Better hold off on posting any more of Poppy for a bit I'll have to find something different today.
Beautiful image, well done.
Jsut a very lovely image, beautifully naturally framed. Click
Superb shot.Congrats on the EC,very well deserved.
Superb. nothing else to be said.
Another great shot.
Another perfect shot, Cheryl.
Superb! Tee dof is great with the owl and frame in perfect focus but the background indecipherable
You have certainly uploaded some brilliant images whilst I was away. This one is simply brilliant the colour the lighting the clarity everything is just spot on. Well deserved EC
Absolutely brilliant shot.
Great Photo CB
Ok, everyone has said everything for me, it really is a lovely capture so I will say but !!! Not easy to find a 'but' but wouldn't it look great with a cobweb draped across one of the top corners. How desperate is that to find a gripe. No, no gripes at all, I love the atmosphere of it. Tick, of course.
Thanks again everyone, a cobweb, what a wonderful idea, especially with the early morning dew. I'll suggest it to the person who owns the 'window', maybe he can train a spider. Would look really good with those colours in the background.
Beautiful capture, love the the soft colours and pose, congrats.
Tremendous detail and lovely pose. Worthy EC
Amazing detail and love the framimg
cracking shot - natural framing is perfect
Do you sell prints?
I'm serious . . .
I did post a response, but then the site crashed.
If you are really interested in this image I can put the image into my photobox account if you really want or we can arrange something separately. Or did you just mean do I sell them in general?
If I put it on photobox I could post a link here, if that is OK with Pete.
I'm building quite a collection of epz works and hoping to add this and Sam's dipper to them. I really was serious about my first comment on this shot. And would really like to have a copy on the wall at home. I'm moving house in the new year and going to double my wall space. If you want to take this off line - drop me an email to kitmonster at gmail dot com
Let's hope this posts - whores draws springs to mind . . .
Fabulous shot Cheryl. Love it.
This is one of the best owl shots I've ever seen. Fantastic!
Looked at it several times and hadn't realized I hadn't commented...sorry to be so late.
Cheryl, that's perfect.
Superb shot! Well done indeed. Bill
An excellent shot of my fave bird. Nice one.
Perfect! Nice frame and beautiful background blur. Excellent sharpness and beautiful colour rendition and contrast.

Lovely shot, Cheryl. Great natural framing and congrats on a well deserved EC. Click
This is beautiful. I wish I had a bigger version to look at.
missed this baby/// quality as always
stunning composition and detail on the Barn owl
Can't add anything that's not already been said. A beautiful capture. Well done. I probably would have cropped it so that the natural framing is equal on all sides, but a minor thing really. Like it a lot. Well done.
It's all been said . A super shot .
Thanks again to all the later commentors (is that a word - probably not spelt like that).
I may upload a larger version some time.
What a SHOT so clear
Saw this in print Friday evening (Harlow Exhib). Absolutely wonderful Cheryl.
Thanks Joggie, Keith and Dave. I have a large print on my wall, so I knew it would look OK. Never saw the print in the exhibition though, cos it was sent direct to Clare.
Beautiful bird, pin sharp, brilliantly framed. Pixel perfection.
Beautifully framed and taken! Cracker ! ! !
