I've been told this could almost qualify for macro work.

Excellent close up, well done Cheryl and congratulations on the EC.
Thanks for all the comments. I'm particularly proud of this image, it turned out exactly as I had planned.
Originally I took this image just for me and wasn't intending to post it. However, after feedback on another image where people wanted a closer look I decided to share it.
The positive feedback is indeed gratifying, sometimes images happen by accident but when they come off as planned it is all the more rewarding.
Well done in all the hard work and effort to get what you wanted. The feather detail is superb; the catch light when it's this bright is quite amazing. And to get the shot you wanted without cropping finishes it off - now you can go and get it printed large and put on the wall.
Congrats for the shot.
Edward

Matt, thanks for the comment.
Can't say for sure I have three which are very, very similar, in fact almost indistinguishable from each other. It may or may not be the same file, but as you have noticed it does look better when larger than the 500px limit on this site.
To everyone else who has commented since my last thank you message, also thanks
Remembered to get my copy of AP today, looking good Cheryl..
Hope your name on the thread the other day never worried you too much, we went through previous threads and compiled a list of members who have said they don't mind honest critique. We can take you off it it bothers you..
This is the picture, when shown in AP, that changed my mind about the quality available from digital cameras. It really is superb, both in quality and content.
Jeremy
The reproduction here really does not do the pic justice. It is worth getting the back number of AP just to see it in all its glory.
You could cut your fingers on some of those feathers.
Jeremy
