Taken last evening at 20:10, Tornado heads south back to Kings X.
Light was fading by this time, so used ISO 2,500 / 500th sec @ f5.6.

was this manual mode? superb picture, I hope to travel on a steam train in Sept takes me back to my youth
love the steam coming out of the engine Nick. Im probably doing something wrong, but whenever I use anything above 1000ISO all I get is noise and yet your image is pristine. Very well taken
Thanks Ann and Anna
The pic was taken in RAW and in manual mode. Auto exposure can often become confused, so I take a reading from the area and then a couple of test shots. Same applies with aircraft, which can be a nightmare. The 5D2 is good for noise, compared with the 5D1 but it's still there and both CS5 and Lightroom 3 now possess enhanced noise reduction without losing too much detail. The sharpening facility is now better with the ability to mask the effect.
Thanks for the comments.
An excellent image, well captured.............Sandy
